Why Us

Khai Tri Academy was formed as a result of a careful and conscious decision of a group of teachers and parents, with the help of local organizations such as The Kinkaid School, HISD, United Way, and others to create a fun weekend Vietnamese immersion program in Houston, Texas. Khai Tri Academy was modeled after several language immersion programs in Houston ISD, and other school districts in the U.S., as well as from the practical experiences of our teaching staff as to the most effective ways to teach kids the Vietnamese language.

Fun Learning & Quality Education

Students at Khai Tri Academy enjoy the best of both worlds – quality education and fun learning. The Academy created several play-based programs with the use of music, interactive games and hands-on activities customized to help students develop language skills and maximize fun time in the classrooms. By doing so, students are able to learn Vietnamese the natural way, picking up words and phrases as they participate in fun and engaging activities.

Teach Vietnamese as a Second Language

The teaching program at Khai Tri Academy is designed to combine practice in reading, writing, speaking, and listening with lessons that are associated with Vietnamese culture wherein Vietnamese is taught as a second language to native English-speaking students.

Quality Teaching Staff

Teaching staff at Khai Tri Academy is dedicated to enriching the lives of our students through bilingualism and not merely vocabulary memorization of traditional Vietnamese language. The teacher training at Khai Tri Academy will prepare teachers on how to handle classroom management, planning lesson plans, and parent/teacher conferences. Participants will develop and explore aspects of teaching methodologies and techniques, and learn to assess and utilize a variety of teaching aids and resources.

Education Partnership with Parents

We values families’ involvement in student learning as essential to the Academy’s success. The Academy recognizes that due to a limited classroom time on the weekend, students may not be able to practice and/or retain much of what they learned. As such, the Academy encourages an open and helpful (close) communication between the Academy teaching staff and parents. Most importantly, parents are considered important stakeholders in their children’s well being and development at the Academy. As a result, the families who have children in Khai Tri Academy are encouraged to engage and involve in their children’s activities at Academy on the weekend, and practice with their kids on guided programs provided by the Academy to create a positive and enriching experience for their children.
